I am obsessed with these images.  As a documentary photographer and journalist, Karla Schwede started photographing historic race cars and was quite drawn to the sport of capturing these fast vehicles.  Her husband has a blog on race cars that is quite well known in Germany - 1300ccm.de. It is no surprise that when the couple got their first dog, they chose a Whippet. A new passion for shooting was born out of this new relationship with her animals.  She has so aptly named her site Doctor Speed! Canon supports Karla with new speed catching technology and it is with great pleasure that we were able to talk to Karla and hear more about her dogs.

“My dogs are special to me. Of course! Mono (Conte del Aqua semper-crescendo), the one with the black mask, is the sweetest male I've ever met. He’s very self-confident, kind to everybody and never ever has conflicts with other dogs.

His breeder and I are convinced that he’s a real alpha dog. He never shows aggression, he’s just there and every other dog seems to understand that. He’s five years old now and finally grown up. Whippet males in general need a lot of time to mature.

Danny (Enjoy The Silence of Little Goblin) the brindle one, is still a baby in his head. He’s just 18 months old and a big presence. He’s very funny, very active, extremely curious and constantly in a good mood.”

To see more of Karla’s amazing work check her blog out here and on Instagram.
