Alexis Rockman and a dog named Padme photographed by Kimberly M. Wang

If we're going to be honest, when we walked into the studio of the artist Alexis Rockman, the primary purpose was to meet his dog.  Instead, what we found were magical drawings on the wall - the results of a 20 years study about indigenous species and his collaboration with scientists along his travels.  The most fascinating part about the drawings is that they are made from organic materials that Alexis found locally in the locale of each particular animal he paints.  His show, Natural History of Life in New York City, opens at Salon 94 in April.  That's all I will reveal about the art now as we are here to learn about Padme, Alexis Rockman's dog.

Stacy Fischer introduced me to Kimberly this Fall. I knew her work from BARK magazine and was so taken with her profile of William Wegman who had also told me about her work.  Kimberly is a visual storyteller who loves to hang with artists with the intention of seeing them cultivate and sustain their creativity.  I asked Kimberly what it was like to spend time with Wegman observing him and his art.

A few weeks ago we stopped by the fabulously hectic office of PR guru Nadine Johnson to get the scoop on dog mascot Lupo (@lupojohnson).  He's stolen every heart in the office, so along with photographer Kimberly M. Wang/Eardog.com and Mindy Montney of Dog & Cowe dug further to see what made this dog tick!

What's your favorite thing to do at the office?

I enjoy teasing my older sister Milou and supervising all the employees from my little throne at the top of the stairs. I also steal their lunches when they are not looking, but need to watch out as beach season is here and I’ve gotten a bit round around the waist.

When Pierre Rougier and Sylvie Picquet-Damesme say “sit,” it’s not just their pups who listen.  The joint force behind PR Consulting, the fashion industry’s most elite PR firm, it’s Rougier and Picquet-Damesme who determine the seating for Dries Van Noten, Christian Dior, Zero + Maria Cornejo and Versace.  PR consulting chooses the seats for buyers and editors, entertainers and their entourages; they herd fashion’s cats—including the kings of the jungle.  And not just at the shows— when you read about a party at the Chateau Marmont, or a Louis Vuitton dinner, it’s PR Consulting who’s behind it, beginning with the guest list.
