I have always been drawn to Jess Bonham's still lives and even more excited when they include dogs.  So thrilled to find these images, I had to find out more about them!

WHY ARE YOU DRAWN TO PHOTOGRAPHING DOGS?

For me it offers a rare chance to be completely loose with the way I shoot. Shooting primarily still life photography, I’m pretty much always locked onto a tripod. On these shoots I’m more free with the camera and have a very limited time to get the shot before the dog loses interest. I often have to adapt the idea around what the dog does, or doesn't, want to do. And dogs are funny. Never is there a dull moment on a dog shoot.

DO YOU HAVE YOUR OWN DOG?

Yes, I have a Manchester Terrier called Edie. She looks just like a little doberman.

TELL ME ABOUT THE INSPIRATION OF THIS SHOOT?

The Gourmand had the idea of shooting dogs alongside their favorite human foods. So we built the story around this. For a while I would be going up to people in parks and asking them about their dogs’ food preferences. I got all sorts of strange answers. Curry and nan was one reply. One guy had a Corgi with a penchant for foie gras! This was a collaboration with The Gourmand for The Ace Hotel
