My cousin, Crazy Sexy Kris Carr a goddess but her dog Buddy is my true hero
One of my biggest mentors, both with cancer advice and with rescue admiration, is my cousin Kris. She is a cancer thriver, and wellness warrior, not to mention, compassionate and informative also. I couldn't help reach out to her to have her share her compelling story about Buddy, who she found in the woods with her husband Brian Fassett. I have to say the journey was one of my favorite Intsagram feeds ever!
LULU THE LEAPING WONDER DOG
I came across this amazing dog and owner on Instagram called @extrememairlulu and was undone. But became even more so when I heard she was missing! Read all about Lulu from her owners!
Laurie Simmons' daughter has a dog named Lamby.
This is a funny story... Laurie was shooting her show that was up last month at Salon 94 when Lamby jumped up on the model's lap and Laurie snapped this shot. The end.
Big story right? Well, I went to the gallery I met another gorgeous dog whose name is Ludvig von Truffle and he showed me around....
Not to mention that Laurie can join the girl crush club too. Love her.
KEVIN CRAFTS HAD A MILLION REASONS NOT TO HAVE A DOG
"Four years ago I had a million reasons why I shouldn’t have a dog; career change, apartment living, travel, etc. I started volunteering at a local dog shelter, why I’m not sure, but I had always volunteered and thought it might suppress my longing to have a dog and spare me the responsibility.
COREY TOWERS CARES A LOT ABOUT DOGS
Corey Towers is a great photographer and animal lover who I met after many colleagues brought his work to my attention. At a meeting with Corey and my friend Stacy Alldredge, the trainer, we came up with the idea to introduce Corey to MaeDay Rescue, a brilliant rescue organization for dogs in Los Angeles. Corey and MaeDay partnered to make these exclusive portraits for Mrs. Sizzle, and we hope that the dogs above, Frances and Tabitha, get adopted tomorrow at Urban Pet in Los Angeles.
CLARA NEEDED ALOT BUT GAVE US A GREAT DEAL IN RETURNs
While working at my grandfather's vineyard, Loughlin Vineyard, I met Kerri, Billy, and their adorable rescue dog, Clara. They shared their incredible adoption story of saving Clara and how she changed their life!

JOHN BAXTER TELLS HIS DOG STORY AND A GOOD ONE IT IS
When I was about six, my parents, in a well-intentioned but misguided parenting gesture, brought home an adorable Sealyham terrier, named him "Chester," and then stood back and waited for a bond to form between us. But it turned out that Chester was even less interested in me than I was in him. He poured all of his considerable energy into getting as filthy as possible at every opportunity, and I preferred playing with insects, so we tacitly agreed to ignore each other for the duration of his stay. Indeed, I hardly noticed when he was shipped off to a farm (yes, a real farm) less than six months later. I felt no sadness at Chester’s departure and I certainly didn't miss him, but every so often it would cross my mind that he was once our dog. Then I would picture him happily chasing livestock and rolling in a pigsty somewhere and think he was well out of it.
AMY LOMBARD DID INDEED GROW UP WITH ANIMALS
I first saw these photos on Feature Shoot and flipped! I reached out to Amy and here is her story about these magnificent photos.
"Before I went to my first dog event I was very deep into a terrible photographic rut. I had hit a breaking point, and I asked myself “What do YOU love? What are YOU interested in?” I looked around my room and saw my Pomeranian Sasha looking at me. Something clicked in my head and I became curious about dog culture in New York City. The Doggies and Tiaras Pageant, founded by pet fashion designer Roberto Negrin, was the first thing I found when doing my research. The moment I stepped into the New Yorker Hotel it was like I got my groove back.
STEPHEN AND BECKY LEWIS HAVE A DOG NAMED GUS; SO DO I!
“This is our wire-haird dachshund Gus at 6 months old. He is now 3 and a half and loves swimming upstate, playing with his buddy Charlie, chasing turkeys, frogs, cows & chipmunks with no success”.
#EVERYDAYIMBRUSSELLING SAYS KYLE OF SHE AND HER POOCH MICHAEL
Kyle Landman is a dear friend who I know through Maria Cornejo and Marysia Woroniecka. Here she tells of her dog, Michael, and the journey to adopting him! "After being on the hunt for the “unicorn” of all dogs—a black, longhaired Brussels Griffon—my brother-in-law sent me a message with a picture of the cutest, bug-eyed, hairy fluff ball staring back at me. The message read: “This is Mikey. He needs a home, now. And a haircut.”
THE THINGS SHANNON BRADY LEARNED FROM A RESCUE DOG
My brother, Doug Donaldson, introduced me to this wonderful yogi named Shannon Brady who has a delightful blog and does not have a dog. What she does have, however, is a big heart, a generous spirit, and a way with dogs.
PAMELA HANSON WORSHIPS HER DOGS DANNY AND MOLLY
Not only has Pamela been a fun friend but she is also a mad good photographer. And not only a photographer but a dog lover too which makes for a delicious doggie combo! Seen here are some summer fun dog pictures of the creatures she is in love with. Best part of this post is seeing her nanny, Lynny, with Tabu, the poodle, Ambra, the great pyrenees, and Jimmy Hendrix, the cat. In addition to dogs, she also loved horses but her parents drew the line at canines.
GRACIE NEEDED MUCH PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING FROM CORI AND SHE GOT IT
Gracie is a three year old Tennessee farm dog and if anything else, a survivor. She was found last winter, pregnant, wounded and in fear of everything. When her owner, Cori, rescued her from the shelter, she was undergoing treatment for heartworms and was scheduled to have her leg amputated. Cori decided against the amputation and took her to hydrotherapy. After having her for a month, Cori also realized that Gracie suffered from separation anxiety.
Troy Dunham and James Irvin adopted Shotzy not long ago
As each day passes both Troy and James fall more in love with Shotzy. As Troy would say, “my heart grew ten times larger after adopting him.” The boys went through a rigorous interview process with Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue but that’s always a good thing so the adoption sticks!
William Wegman does know how to make a bed
Or at least he did make it while I was there at the studio that day. So, I was nervous before the visit, that I might be the only dog owner in the world to have dogs, well not really, that like to jump up on people. It was just not so. Wegman's dogs do the same thing and his dogs are bigger than my dogs. This is what he says about two of them, "Topper is the biggest trouble maker. He sometimes bites Flo's back leg when Flo is introducing herself to visitors. He barks a lot. But he's a great dog." I loved being able to go meet the dogs.
Puffy Demarchelier
Would you ever suspect that Patrick Demarchelier would name his dog Puffy?
My old friend Todd Eberle and his amazing dog REX
Todd once had a dog called T Bone. He was a beautiful, spunky dog and my daughter Sophie loved him so. T-Bone got old and now Todd has a dog named T Rex, half Chihuahua, half Maltese beauty. What a special dog he is. In fact, he lives up to that name of his and is an absolute "king". I think he likes art a lot, especially the Jeff Koons at the Brant Foundation.
