I can't stop smiling when I look at Julie Christe's book Flying Dogs

My idea of the flying dogs and the very first series started in 2007 when I was still in school. I was inspired seeing photos of my dog Flinn in midair. He loved Frisbees and would jump after them with abandon, flying up and not caring about where (or even if) he would ever land. I began experimenting with different methods in order to capture other dogs from this unique midair perspective. It took a lot of trial and error making sure the dogs were safe and comfortable, and that we would get a great photo, but it was worth it.

MRS. SIZZLE THINKS RU ENNINFUL IS SUPER CHIC. BEST PART IS, HE DOESNT KNOW IT!

I asked Stefano Tonchi, the editor in chief of W magazine, to talk about Edward: "Edward is one of the most talented image-makers in the world. He is also one of the funniest and most creative people I have ever met. His enthusiasm for fashion and magazines is contagious.  I call him “the sunshine in my life" because he can always see the positive side of things, the half full glass and never the half empty. That does not mean that he excepts mediocrity. He constantly strives for excellence but with culture and respect for others."

David Williams and the people and dogs of Westminster Dog Show

I asked David about what it was like to shoot dogs at the 2017 Westminster Dog Show in NYC this month and this is what he had to offer:

"I was lucky enough to take a stab at the challenge of capturing the Westminster Dog Show this year. Color and humor are what compels me to take a picture, and this event has no shortage of either. The purple runways and ropes, green show floor, and colorful skirt suits provide ample opportunities to take a great picture. Oh! And the dogs. The most beautiful dogs I have ever seen. Big ones, small ones, skinny ones, fat ones. It’s almost like a Dr. Suess book in real life. With everything working to my advantage, the dog show is still an unpredictable event to photograph and difficult to make photos that stand out from other photographer's shots from the past. With this in mind, I tried my best to seek out moments that spoke to me instead of firing my camera at every cute dog that walked past. So, after three days and over 58,000 steps, here’s a peek into what I came home with."

AMY LOMBARD AND EDIE SIZZLE TAKE ON #NYFL (YES, LEASH)

In Mrs. Sizzle's opinion the most fun time of the canine year just came and went: New York Fashion Week. But seeing as how the newest VIP was our very own Edie Sizzle, we think of this glamorous week more like New York Fashion Leash. Whether she’s sporting her new neon orange leash, matching booties, and comfy tribal sweater or color blocking with a cozy white sweater and black paw boots, or keeping it casual with a black cover up and neon booties for a pop of color, Edie was as trendy as our fave fashion A-listers. Without a doubt, our favorite look has got to be her unseasonably bright multi-color top with matching neon and light pink leashes. With as many looks as the leggy supermodels strutting down the runway, Edie took NYFL by storm. Mrs. Sizzle is a proud mama.

ADWOA ABOAH CAN PAT HER DOG AND SPEAK HER MIND AT THE SAME TIME

I have known this beauty since she was a wee one running up and down the beach in Tulum playing with her sister Kesewa and my daughter Sophie - spirited and carefree.  Life has certainly thrown this girl a few curveballs but it is with grace and determination that she emerged from a spell and has come through like a shiny golden star.  Founder of GURLS Talk, feminist crusader, actress, model and friend to many, Adwoa Aboah shares with us a few tidbits about her life and her dog, of course. Thank you to my sweet friend Tierney Gearon for these delicious pics.

Hi, my name is Yeray López Portillo and I have been marching the hard and solitary lands of deep Spain for the past three years making a documentary about the Spanish sighthound, the Galgo.

We have always had a very hard relationship with animals in my country, Spain. Folklore, rituals and festivities have been using animals as a way to signal certain dates and have fun for a long time with the backing of the state. Bullfighting is just an example of it and a popular one, but there are many other animals who also suffer in silence our so-called sports and traditions. The Galgo is one of those cases. The Galgo been in tales and myths, by the side of kings and queens and in art history for centuries. It was a very special dog that only people of noble birth could have, but now it’s worth has changed and galgos are, after being used for the hunting season, killed in the thousands. Between 50.000 and 10.000 galgos are killed or abandoned during each hunting season in Spain.

LONDON CALLING, Elle meets Winny and the rest is fashion history

My dear friend Colleen Quill aka Coco and her dog Elle, an oftentimes Mrs. Sizzle model, packed up and headed to London last year.  As one often does in looking for new local friends, Coco turned to Instagram to find other like minded paw friendly people.  As she tells it, "We moved to London in May. Shortly afterwards, Elle connected with Winny on Instagram, being local and so very British, we were besotted. The first thing we asked "is he named for Winston Churchill?" The answer being "yes," a royal friendship began in the Kensington Palace Gardens. Bodhi is the two-year-old English bulldog, who belongs to my friend Seb Weller I met while we were both working at Sony Music."

CHILLIN WITH THE DOGS, A PORTFOLIO BY MELANIE ACEVEDO

There is nothing I love more than friends reaching out to me with their rescue stories.  Not only does it give me great joy, but it is the most aspirational way to reconnect with old friends and colleagues and share about our commonality - LOVE FOR ANIMALS. SO, it was with great pleasure that I heard from friend and photographer Melanie Acevedo who wanted to share her pics and story about her dogs and their role in the home.

My everyday amazement takes the form of a fan club… let me share.  The latest fixation is the Instagram account JESS RONA GROOMING.  Have you not seen her slow motion dog grooming videos?  If you have not, you are certainly in for a surprise.  When I initially discovered these, I thought that Mickalene Thomas had gone and set up shop in LA.  But she hasn’t...and what a joy it has been to meet Jess on line.  Here the comedian/actress/groomer shares how she got started in this biz, and we share some of her brilliant work with you.  Keep an eye on this gem - more fun to come!!!

Patricia Field - Fashion icon, lover of life, stylist to the infamous television show Sex in the City and the owner of the extraordinary PATRICIA FIELD boutique which will be closing its doors in a few months.  When I learned the store was to be sold, I was insistent that Amy Lombard join me to go shoot the two house dogs and get some insight into their lives with the magnanimous Patrica Field. Surprisingly for being Pat's kids, they are so NOT fashion hounds so let's hear why!
