What do Comicon and I have in common? Superheroes, however mine are of the four- legged variety. At the suggestion of my clever friend Laura Hughes, I decided to put the two together. I invited Amy Lombard to shoot the event and what a time we had!  The day started with prolific Kevin Conroy, the brilliant actor and the voice of Batman! Edie and Clair donned Batman and Robin outfits with Kevin modeling sans costume. The rest of the day was catch can. Dogs were cast off the street and Marnie came and did a cameo. All in all a brilliant doggie day!

Mark Cohen's arresting work at Danziger Gallery with a few animals that Sizzle spotted

Working in the environs of his small town of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Mark Cohen shows that you don't have to travel far to unleash a distinctive photographic vision.  Cohen got closer to his subjects and looked more closely at the texture of the world around him than anyone shooting on the street had before and went on to influence countless photographers and the way we see the world. Come join us at Danziger Gallery to see this wonderful work on May 10th.

I have always been a fan of Catherine Ledner's work, particularly her book ANIMAL HOUSE.  Here are some questions I posed to the photographer:

Did you have animals growing up?

Yes!  As a family we had many pets.  When I was very young, we had a Springer Spaniel named Light bulb, because of the light bulb shaped marking on one of her eyes.  We then had a Cocker Spaniel named Snoopy, named after my favorite cartoon character at the time.   Later we had a chocolate Labrador named Tasha, not sure how she got that name.  For smaller critters, we had a bevy: rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, fish and turtles.  My mom and dad are definitely animal people.  Thank goodness they indulged my two brothers and I in our love of animals.
