MEET SASHA AND MAX, THE SWEETEST TOY POODLE EVER, PHOTOGRAPHED BY YSA PEREZ
Mrs. Sizzle met this stylish duo the other week in downtown New York. Sasha is a model with Elite and Max is her gorgeous toy poodle that she adopted when her husband's cousin was pregnant. Sasha and her husband Dimitri were talking care of Max and it organically turned into a permanent situation - a very cozy one at that!
I AM HAVING A BIG LOVE MOMENT FOR THE HEARTS AND #RESCUE FAIRIES IN NYC RIGHT NOW
It's been a week and I am grateful. Grateful to have found my place in this big city and surrounding myself with animal heroes. I first want to express my profound gratitude to the team that tirelessly spreads love and helps so many animals in NYC - Social Tees. They are a a not-for-profit, strictly no-kill 501c3 organization in the East Village of NYC that takes abandoned animals from kill shelters and provides them with safe haven and veterinary care before placing them in proper forever homes.
FOR THE LOVE OF DOG BY J.N. URBANSKI, A MRS. SIZZLE FAVORITE
Years ago, a new country neighbor confided that whenever her husband went away on business she slept with a loaded shotgun by the bed, but I believe in accidents, sleepwalking and all the other disasters that Hollywood screenwriters can mustre. A shotgun only wakes you up after it has blown off your leg when you knocked it over reaching for a glass of water. A dog, however, wakes you up before something happens (or will ever happen).
A TRIP TO ELLIOTT ERWITT'S WAS THE MOST FUN THING EVER FOR MRS. SIZZLE
As a dog lover and a lover of photography, what more could have drawn me to Elliott Erwitt's studio? The man had been hounded by me for months since I started this blog, and we finally met up one fine day in January. The girls and I sauntered up to the Upper West Side to join Elliott walking down Central Park West. He wanted to sit a bit, get to see the dogs and let them sniff him before we went on our loop that ended up at his studio. A few stories were told and I must have passed muster, as I was invited upstairs for a delicious espresso that he made me.
REMEMBERING LARRY SULTAN ON VALENTINE'S DAY
I found this Valentine’s card in my files recently; I used to receive them every year from my old friend Larry Sultan. Larry passed away in 2009 and it rocked me. The last time I spoke to him, we shared stories of our cancers and the Indian nurse that he saw in New York. I miss that dear man, so I wanted to share this with you all - a bit belated, Valentine-wise, but close enough!

Do we not LOVE instagram? I came across these delightful illustrations and had to share. Linda Kocur is an illustrator, designer, and principal of Miss Boxwood—a hand-crafted paper goods company. Her studio is managed by two very demanding Basset Hounds and
a Welsh Terrier with a personality disorder.
DEEP BREEDING: A COLLABORATION BETWEEN PLATON AND CHARLOTTE STOCKDALE FOR GARAGE MAGAZINE
I first worked with PLATON many years ago for Esquire magazine. It was a boxing story that we cast at Gleason's gym and I will never forget Platon's intense focus while working on this job. So when I came across this brilliant story in Garage Magazine, it was no surprise to me that is was a PLATON project. As he so aptly recalls, "This project was an extraordinary experience. For me it was a celebration of the relationship between human beings and animals. Having all these beautiful dogs in my studio changed the dynamic immensely with all the models I was privileged to work with. In many cases, the dogs needed reassurance and were timid in front of the light. The models suddenly found themselves nurturing and supporting these lovely animals in their moment of vulnerability. The end result has soul, humility and sincerity. You can see it in all the model’s eyes in each image. They are nothing but perfectly authentic.
MRS. SIZZLE IS OBSESSED WITH MARTIN USBORNE'S DOGS IN CARS SERIES
I first came across this series at AIPAD NY 2014. I was undone on every level - the emotion, the cinematic lighting, the DOGS. I was lucky enough to have met Martin the next day before her returned to England.
MRS. SIZZLE CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF NICOLA FORMICHETTI'S LOVE FOR TANK AND BAMBI
Like any fabulous pair of shoes, sometimes good things come in two’s. Nicola Formichetti certainly found that out when he was united with his furry little friends, Tank and Bambi. MARK ULRIKSEN PUTS DOGS ANYWHERE HE CAN AND MRS. SIZZLE LOVES IT
So this week's New Yorker cover is so very #mrssizzle, no? I LOVED it and had to meet the man behind the art, Mark Ulriksen. This is what he had to say about dogs, "I love them because they love us so profoundly and unconditionally. And they help us humans try to live up to the high pedestals they naturally put us on."

MRS. SIZZLE TALKS TO THE SUBLIME CHARLOTTE DUMAS ABOUT HER WORK WITH ANIMALS
I have been enamored with the work of Charlotte Dumas for some time now and I was thrilled to hear that she would share some of her Heart Shaped Hole series of stray dogs in Palermo with Mrs. Sizzle. We asked her a few questions about her art and love of animals. Where did your love of dogs begin and why?
MRS. SIZZLE'S DAUGHTER SOPHIE FOUND A CAT. ALICE LANE ADOPTED HER. ALICE'S SON WALT SAID, "MOMMY, WHY DID THEY THROW THE KITTY OUT? "
"A million things hold the universe together. Our universe begins with Instagram and a cat.
I had rescued this sweet cat named Jazz from the streets of Hartford over a month before Alice walked into our lives. Jazz was malnourished, cold, and dumpster diving in order to survive. Countless treats and a few scratches later, she moved into my college dorm full time with me.
Laurie Simmons' daughter has a dog named Lamby.
This is a funny story... Laurie was shooting her show that was up last month at Salon 94 when Lamby jumped up on the model's lap and Laurie snapped this shot. The end.
Big story right? Well, I went to the gallery I met another gorgeous dog whose name is Ludvig von Truffle and he showed me around....
Not to mention that Laurie can join the girl crush club too. Love her.
