Nancy Baron and the pooches of PALM SPRINGS
Nancy Baron has taught school, produced commercials and documentaries, and worked in creative screenplay development. She now uses her camera to document the amazing things she see in the world around her - not too far away, mostly in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Palm Springs; the places where she's lived. A good friend of mine, Ross Klein, turned me on to her work.

What does Kelly Wearstler love more? Dogs or design? Hard to say

Hi, my name is Yeray López Portillo and I have been marching the hard and solitary lands of deep Spain for the past three years making a documentary about the Spanish sighthound, the Galgo.
We have always had a very hard relationship with animals in my country, Spain. Folklore, rituals and festivities have been using animals as a way to signal certain dates and have fun for a long time with the backing of the state. Bullfighting is just an example of it and a popular one, but there are many other animals who also suffer in silence our so-called sports and traditions. The Galgo is one of those cases. The Galgo been in tales and myths, by the side of kings and queens and in art history for centuries. It was a very special dog that only people of noble birth could have, but now it’s worth has changed and galgos are, after being used for the hunting season, killed in the thousands. Between 50.000 and 10.000 galgos are killed or abandoned during each hunting season in Spain.

When I grow up I want a job like David Boals. I actually wouldn't mind Bruno Staub's either.
David and his wife, photo agent Chris Boals, have been friends of mine for years so, don't you know, Mrs.Sizzle's ears perked up when she heard that David started running with a pack of dogs. Even better, one of Chris' photographers, Bruno Staub, was up for following David one day and the result speaks for itself. I had to ask David how he got into his new career.
"My Sicilian Souvenir" as told by Emily Griffith
This summer, my friends and I decided that a trip to the Noto Valley in Sicily was just what we needed to celebrate the 40th birthday of one of the members of our quartet. After weeks of research, we agreed a renovated farmhouse overlooking the 300BC town of Scicli would do us just fine.

GILLIAN LAUB INTERVIEWS MAIRA KALMAN ABOUT DOGS - woof

Vladimir Dachevski has an uncanny ability to capture the essence of dogs
I made the acquaintance of this wonderful man on TUMBLR, the one platform that doesn't seem to intuitively click with Mrs. Sizzle. So I was even more pleased when this delightful photographer reached out to me to share his work with dogs.
MRS. SIZZLE AND AMY LOMBARD TAKE COMICON BY STORM
What do Comicon and I have in common? Superheroes, however mine are of the four- legged variety. At the suggestion of my clever friend Laura Hughes, I decided to put the two together. I invited Amy Lombard to shoot the event and what a time we had! The day started with prolific Kevin Conroy, the brilliant actor and the voice of Batman! Edie and Clair donned Batman and Robin outfits with Kevin modeling sans costume. The rest of the day was catch can. Dogs were cast off the street and Marnie came and did a cameo. All in all a brilliant doggie day!

It's no surprise that fashion designer Rachel Antonoff's dog does clothes so well but prefers being naked
This week we visit the apartment of Rachel Antonoff the super duper inspired fashion designer and cutie extraordinaire. Although Mrs. Sizzle got lost in the rain she was relieved to get to the cozy apartment with the barking dog, none other than Lafitte Antonoff. Amy Lombard was on hand to photograph and there to help us look stylish was the brilliant DOG & CO.! I had to ask Rachel many questions about this handsome scruffy dude.

Large or small, sad or glad, Richard Phibbs captures these beautiful creatures that all need a home in a book entitled RESCUE ME
Rick Bartow loved painting dogs because they are always doing something they shouldn't
I had a run in Portland the other day and came across these amazing paintings that, of course, had dogs in them. I made my way into in the Froelick Gallery to find out about the artist Rick Bartow and learned that he had passed away last April. When I asked the gallery about the dogs in his work this is what I found out, "Rick said when he didn’t have an idea of what to paint or draw he would look to a dog for inspiration - they were always doing something they “shouldn’t”." Of course they were, as they always do.

Purely Patricia knocks Mrs. Sizzle's socks off this Fashion Week
