MARK ULRIKSEN PUTS DOGS ANYWHERE HE CAN AND MRS. SIZZLE LOVES IT
So this week's New Yorker cover is so very #mrssizzle, no? I LOVED it and had to meet the man behind the art, Mark Ulriksen. This is what he had to say about dogs, "I love them because they love us so profoundly and unconditionally. And they help us humans try to live up to the high pedestals they naturally put us on."

I have been enamored with the work of Charlotte Dumas for some time now and I was thrilled to hear that she would share some of her Heart Shaped Hole series of stray dogs in Palermo with Mrs. Sizzle. We asked her a few questions about her art and love of animals. Where did your love of dogs begin and why?

I had rescued this sweet cat named Jazz from the streets of Hartford over a month before Alice walked into our lives. Jazz was malnourished, cold, and dumpster diving in order to survive. Countless treats and a few scratches later, she moved into my college dorm full time with me.
Laurie Simmons' daughter has a dog named Lamby.
This is a funny story... Laurie was shooting her show that was up last month at Salon 94 when Lamby jumped up on the model's lap and Laurie snapped this shot. The end.
Big story right? Well, I went to the gallery I met another gorgeous dog whose name is Ludvig von Truffle and he showed me around....
Not to mention that Laurie can join the girl crush club too. Love her.

This funny zine is the brainchild of Aria McManus, an artist who was in residence last summer in Bellport NY, working with a team of other young artists on a project called AUTO BODY. is a creative platform and exhibition space in Bellport that engaged the community through a series of exhibitions that used local influence as a vehicle to connect with the local population and showcase its surroundings.

I met Matt Bogosian years ago in New York city and when he found out that I had gone to the dogs he reached out to tell me about his latest venture! After working as a studio manager in New York City for 8 years, Matt eventually made his way to Vermont where he met his girlfriend Rhonda who owns Vermont Dog Pack and co-owns Vermont Dog Socials.

On Saturday night, the wind changed and our beautiful and loving and joyful Maude left us. In her wake is a cyclone of anguish and helplessness.
The wind that brought her to us blew up from the south nine years ago. Hurricaine Katrina. Along the way, it picked up a terrified three month old puppy in Louisiana and dropped her into the PAWS clinic on the south side of Chicago.
