All in Books

I can't stop smiling when I look at Julie Christe's book Flying Dogs

My idea of the flying dogs and the very first series started in 2007 when I was still in school. I was inspired seeing photos of my dog Flinn in midair. He loved Frisbees and would jump after them with abandon, flying up and not caring about where (or even if) he would ever land. I began experimenting with different methods in order to capture other dogs from this unique midair perspective. It took a lot of trial and error making sure the dogs were safe and comfortable, and that we would get a great photo, but it was worth it.

Steven Rowley loves Dachshunds and his gal Tilda Swinton

I have a new friend.  My friend, Steven Rowley, has given me a gift: permission to laugh and cry and talk about the death of a loved one.  Lily and the Octopus (Simon & Shuster, June 2016) is a love story by Steven.  A love story you might ask…about an Octopus?  Well no, it’s a love story about a man and his dog who is succumbing to a cancerous tumor he has named The Octopus.  Is it sad?  Yes.  But it is so much more!  Steven makes it fun (at times laugh-out-loud funny) and a true celebration of life and the lengths we go to for our beloved dogs.

Jane Seymour was introduced to me through the brilliant Richard Phibbs.  As a fellow dog and animal lover I was thrilled to know that she most recently became the the Creative Director at the non-profit animal charity Friends of Animals. In doing so she and her Mom put together this sweet dog biscuit cookbook For the Love of Dog Biscuits.  As she informed me, "all proceeds go towards our spay / neuter program that offers low cost certificates to people nationwide. The book consists of 12 delicious and healthy recipes, one for each month in the year, and was written by my mother (the president of the company) and photographed / designed by me." My suggestion to all you dog lovers that knows what tickles your dog's tummies is to order one up and know that it is also the perfect gift for the holidays!!!

Tucker speaks: the story of a dog, his Dad W. Bruce Cameron, his Mom Cathryn Michon and what it's like to taste fame as seen by Mark Leibowitz

My dear friend David Carriere, long time book publicist and author, was intuitive enough to introduce me to a most dynamic creative pack, and one that I would quickly come to revere - and when I say revere, well, I really mean worship. W. Bruce Cameron is the author of a multitude of bestselling books, and the one that rocked me most recently was, A Dog's Purpose, which will come to life on the silver screen in the near future with Lasse Hallstrom directing!

Jess Bonham introduced me to Will Robson-Scott and Ollie Grove and their sensational new project and book entitled, IN DOGS WE TRUST.  Photographers and friends from childhood, the two searched across the social spectrum to shoot intriguing characters and their beloved hounds in locations as diverse as Hackney, Hampstead, Venice Beach, Brooklyn and Queens. Published and designed by Victory Edition , NYC.
